The Société Française de Gériatrie et Gérontologie (SFGG) is a learned society. It aims to study all the various problems relating to gerontology, i.e. human ageing and senescence, life expectancy and lifespan extension; to promote research, training and dissemination of information in all the relevant disciplines. The SFGG encompasses experts in geriatrics, recent medical speciality and gerontology. It comprises more then 900 full members and 3000 associates.

- training of sanitary, socio-medical bodies and other actors

The SFGG is a member of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG). It will organize the next World Congress of Geriatrics and Gerontology in 2009 in Paris. The society is also a member of the “Professional College of French Geriatricians” which federates the SFGG, the “National College of Geriatrics Teachers” and the “National Union of Clinical Gerontology”.
